A contact lens is considered a medical device that is worn directly on the surface of the eye. They are used primarily to correct your vision but are also worn for cosmetic reasons (like changing eye colour) or curative purposes. Many people choose contact lenses for the freedom and convenience of avoiding eyeglasses.

For new wearers or as a refresher, following these guidelines will ensure safe and comfortable insertion:
Loosen the Lens: Gently shake your lens case containing the storage solution to loosen the contact lens if it is stuck. Do not try pulling at the lens with your finger, as you might damage it.
Rinse Thoroughly: Slide the lens out of its case and into the palm of your hand. Rinse it thoroughly with the appropriate contact lens solution.
Position the Lens: Place the contact lens on the tip of your index or middle finger (which should be dry or mostly dry).
Open the Eye: With the fingers and thumb of your other hand, simultaneously pull up on your upper eyelid and down on your lower eyelid.
Apply to the Eye: Position the lens on your eye while looking upward or forward. You can also apply the contact lens by placing it on the white of the eye closest to your ear.
Settle the Lens: Gently close your eye, roll your eyes in a complete circle to help the lens settle, and then blink.
Check Comfort: Look closely in the mirror. If the lens is centered, it should feel comfortable, and your vision should be clear.
